Leap is a next-gen material based on apple pulp, supplied by the linear meter with no hide edges to plan around. For bags, wallets, straps and covers the line is Leap Original. Fleurgrain chose it for the Pomme shoulder bag.
Fleurgrain tested candidates on performance first. Leap was the one that cleared durability and bio-based content at the same time, in a supply format a limited-run house can actually use.

Over 100,000 Martindale cycles at 12 kPa, and no damage at 50,000 flexes wet or dry. A daily-carry bag holds its surface at the corners and under the strap.

An apple pulp core, a TENCEL Lyocell backing and a partly bio-based, partly waterborne PU topcoat. Leap is vegan certified and USDA certified bio-based. Below is the tested performance of the exact variant used on Pomme, so you can compare it against your own specification.

Pomme is a structured shoulder bag, built to be kept rather than replaced. The outer material had to hold a clean grain, take hardware, and survive years of daily wear. Like most brands in this category, Fleurgrain was not looking for a material that was interesting only because of where it came from. Durability was the first non-negotiable.
Leap met it on both counts, with the abrasion resistance daily carry demands. Values then did the rest of the work. A material that gives value to apple pulp instead of animal skin changes how the object feels to own, and it fits a house that produces in limited quantities and has nothing to hide about what its products are made of.
Pomme is made at Rical, part of the Veshin group. Fleurgrain's designer-artisan, Carolina, started from what she knew from conventional leather work, then learned where Leap behaves differently and where it is actually stronger. They went back to the drawing board together several times to get the best out of it.
Leap comes on rolls of a set width, so cutting is planned to use every square centimeter, and the leftovers are becoming Fleurgrain's first jewelry pieces with removable material panels. That is the working relationship we aim for, close enough to solve cutting, edges and hardware together rather than shipping rolls and hoping. Every product ships with a digital passport recording its materials, its authenticity and its story.
